The Overdose Survivors
Outreach Program uses peers in hospital emergency rooms and in the field to
offer recent overdose survivors linkage to treatment services, naloxone
training, and a consistent point of contact should someone wish to enter care. Data indicates prior overdose as a risk factor for
future overdoses, and the high percentage of individuals who had visits to
hospital emergency rooms prior to the overdose death.
This is a DHMH-funded
project that seeks to create better pathways to treatment by creating closer
collaboration between medical facilities, local health departments, and
